The State Archives Department stands as the custodian of the records of enduring value. The department maintains the supervision, preservation and administration of records of archival importance. It keeps the custody, care and management of records acquired and received in the Archives.

The primary functions of the Department comprise of preservation and management of archival records, historical documents, and assisting and providing technical support and advices on records management and conservation.
